Recently I got involved in an initiative of the Women in Physics Group at the Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering (where I work). We started a "Talk to a Physicist Page" and I got to be the first guinea pig ... um .. physicist. I thought I might as well save this work so I've got a page here on how to calculate magnetic fields from solenoids (!) as well as a link to a page of some of the questions I was asked and their answers (believe them at your own risk!). Some time I might even get around to putting some background information about plasmas on this page.
